A change to the REMONDIS Group’s Board

Christian Thielen to succeed Max Köttgen

Having served on the REMONDIS Group’s Board of Directors for a total of 15 years, Max Köttgen will be stepping down from this role on 31 December 2025. This handover of responsibilities is part of a long-term plan and he will continue to act in an advisory role to the Group, making the most of his extensive experience to contribute towards key issues in the future as well.

Max Köttgen has played a key role in developing the Group throughout his time as Board Member. He has provided important impetus, driving forward the Group’s strategic development as well as strengthening its business with strategic acquisitions – in particular, positioning the subsidiary TSR Group as one of the market leaders in Europe. Over 60 acquisitions were successfully completed for the TSR Group, REMONDIS’ North, East and South regions, REMONDIS Recycling and REMONDIS Trade & Sales during his term as Board Member.

Christian Thielen will succeed Max Köttgen and take his seat on the Board. He has been at the Group since 2010 and worked in a variety of management roles: after holding various positions in the area of Merger & Acquisition (his last being Head of M&A) and at REMONDIS Australia, he moved to the Group’s subsidiary TSR Group in 2018. There he began as managing director of the finance division before taking up his current role as CEO of the company.

“Max Köttgen has had a major impact on the Board’s work, helping to initiate some key developments. It will be a challenging task to succeed him – a task that I intend to take on with both respect and confidence. I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to continue this successful line of work and to further advance the strategic development of the REMONDIS Group together with my fellow board members.”

Christian Thielen

The Group – and in particular Board Chair Ludger Rethmann – would like to thank Max Köttgen for his long-standing commitment to the company as board member. They all very much appreciate the fact that he will continue to work with the Group in an advisory capacity. With Christian Thielen taking on this role, the Board will be able to follow its current course and reliably continue its work, determining the Group’s long-term strategic development.
