Paris 2024: Transdev at the centre of this summer’s sporting events

Transport of up to 175,000 passengers per day in the Île-de-France region

A key public transport role for Transdev

France will be experiencing a historic moment in just a few weeks’ time: the start of the summer sporting events in Paris 2024. Transdev will be playing a key role in organising the transport for this event and the teams working for this international transport company will be making an important contribution towards ensuring the sporting competitions are a success.

An important task

Transdev has been given the job of transporting journalists, media representatives, staff working for the committee in charge of the sporting events and volunteers around the city – as well as all the other people looking to help make this event possible and visible. Spectators wishing to travel to the nautical stadium in Vaires-sur-Marne and the equestrian events in Versailles to experience some unforgettable sporting moments will also be able to count on Transdev. Up to 175,000 passengers will be transported every day during these 70 very busy days. Transdev will be mobilising around 3,000 members of staff for this summer season; up to 1,000 employees a day. Its fleet comprises almost 520 standard vehicles and 43 articulated buses.

Transdev: volunteers from home and abroad

With the company being so closely tied to the Île-de-France region, Transdev will be taking on a leading role in this major international event. A special team, Transdev 2024, was set up to organise the tasks needed for this unusual summer mission. And the preparation work is already in full swing: from holding intensive discussions with the Paris 2024 and Île-de-France Mobilités teams, to welcoming and training its employees, all the way through to creating the bus timetables and, last but not least, carrying out dummy runs with the vehicles.

The countdown has begun! The event is proving to be very popular among the drivers – so much so that a large number of volunteer drivers will be travelling to Paris from across the whole of France and Europe. Drivers from Transdev’s Portuguese, Czech and Swedish branches will also be helping out.

These sporting events will be offering some unique moments for people to meet up and have fun. Transdev would also like to spread this spirit among its colleagues in the RETHMANN Group. We would like to wish Transdev every success and hope that this spirit will continue to inspire the company.

Based in Paris, Transdev delivers mobility solutions in 19 countries across five continents and has long-standing experience of operating public transport systems. It is owned by Caisse des Dépôts and the owner-run RETHMANN Group.
