REMONDIS defies economic uncertainties

The economic environment was again characterised by considerable uncertainty during the past financial year. High energy prices, geopolitical tensions, volatile commodity markets and a generally weak economic outlook presented challenges for many companies. Nevertheless, REMONDIS was able to maintain its stable financial performance and further consolidate its position as one of the world’s leading private-sector companies in recycling, services and water. This stability is reflected in the figures for 2025:

In 2025, REMONDIS, with around 48,000 employees worldwide, generated total turnover of 13.4 billion euros. Compared with the previous year, turnover thus increased by 0.2 billion euros. Across the entire RETHMANN Group – which also includes the sister companies Rhenus, SARIA and Transdev – total revenue of 30.0 billion euros was generated in 2025 with an average of around 154,000 employees, compared with 24.5 billion euros in the previous year. As at 31 December 2025, the number of employees stood at 211,000. The increase of 5.5 billion euros and an average of 54,000 employees (in accordance with the German Commercial Code [HGB]) – or 111,000 employees as at the end of 2025 – is attributable to the acquisition of a majority stake in Transdev. As at 1 July 2025, the RETHMANN Group had increased its stake in the internationally active mobility service provider Transdev, headquartered in Paris, and now holds 66 per cent of the shares. Consequently, Transdev’s figures for the period from 1 July to 31 December are included in the RETHMANN Group’s consolidated accounts for the first time – previously, Transdev was accounted for using the equity method. The previous majority shareholder, the French state-owned bank Caisse des Dépôts (CDC), reduced its stake to 34 per cent as of 1 July 2025 and remains on board as a long-standing, trusted partner. The RETHMANN Group had already acquired a 34 per cent stake in Transdev in 2019.

The figures for 2025 demonstrate once again REMONDIS’s resilience. Even in an environment characterised by uncertainty, the company remained on a solid course. This is underpinned by the company’s broad portfolio spanning various business areas, regions and customer groups, as well as its consistent focus on future markets within the circular economy. Issues such as security of supply, resource efficiency, climate protection and sustainable infrastructure remain at the forefront of political, business and societal concerns. REMONDIS makes a significant contribution to this through a wide range of activities in the fields of recycling, municipal and industrial services, and water management, whilst continously investing in advanced solutions and state-of-the-art facilities.
