AGRAVIS und REMONDIS work together on bio-CNG

Cooperation agreement for the use of the alternative fuel at the Münster site

AGRAVIS Raiffeisen Tankstellen GmbH, a group company belonging to AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG, and REMONDIS GmbH & Co. KG, Region West, intend to join forces in the future when it comes to alternative fuels for heavy goods vehicles: the two companies have signed a cooperation agreement to use bio-CNG in REMONDIS’ collection lorries. The vehicles will be refuelled at the Raiffeisen filling station on Industrieweg in Münster, Germany. AGRAVIS will be building another compressor station and a CNG filling station especially for lorries there by spring 2025.

Bio-CNG as an environmentally friendly alternative

“AGRAVIS is making considerable efforts across the Group to make an effective contribution to achieving climate targets. That is why we are very happy to expand our range of environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional diesel fuel”, says Oliver Korting, Head of Energy at AGRAVIS. Cars have been able to fill up with bio-CNG at the Raiffeisen station for a long time, and soon heavy goods vehicles will also be able to do so much more conveniently than before. “That’s a considerable investment,” says Korting. It is therefore good to have REMONDIS as an anchor customer at his side early on.

Expanding the vehicle fleet

“We are grateful to AGRAVIS for creating the necessary infrastructure at its site in Münster. We currently operate more than 20 vehicles with CNG in Münster and the surrounding area and want to gradually convert our fleet over the next few years.”

Tobias Stehling, Branch Manager at REMONDIS in Münster

Strategic partnership in the Münsterland region

Bio-CNG is compressed biomethane, virtually CO2-neutral and is considered an advanced fuel. AGRAVIS is already producing biomethane from slurry and manure at its subsidiary, Terrasol Wirtschaftsdünger GmbH, in Dorsten and will also be doing so in Velen from February 2025. The plant there will be operated by Bioenergie Velen GmbH, a consortium in which the REMONDIS Group, among others, also holds a stake. “We are delighted that we are now further expanding this strategic partnership with this specific project in Münster”, Oliver Korting and Tobias Stehling agreed.

Cooperation until 2033

The cooperation agreement on Bio-CNG is initially valid until the end of 2033 and can be extended over the years – both for other AGRAVIS locations and for other affiliated companies within the REMONDIS Group.
